Moncton, Tuesday, March 31, 2009 - Drummond Designs inc., a major player in the residential architecture industry in North America, is pleased to announce the opening of two new agencies to serve the population and entrepreneurs in northwestern New Brunswick (Edmundston region) and the greater Moncton area.
Despite the current sluggishness in residential construction in Canada, housing start-ups for single-family dwellings in this region seem, for the moment, to be weathering the economic storm.
Figures obtained from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation for the Census Metropolitan Area (CMA), validated with officials responsible for the granting of permits in the municipalities of Moncton and Edmundston, show that in 2008 there were 603 new single-family-dwellings built in these two regions combined. Permits were also issued for more than 700 additional renovation projects.
"The demand for Drummond Designs' plans and services in New Brunswick remains steady, and this is what is inciting us to position ourselves for the recovery," stated Drummond Designs CEO, Yves Carignan. "We are aware of the growth opportunity the services sector represents when there are renovation projects, but to do this you have to be physically present in the communities. This is exactly what Denis Cormier in Moncton and Annie Lajoie and Daniel Lepage in Edmundston will be doing in the coming years."
