This versatile garage is increasingly popular for those looking for a separate suite on a large lot or as a recreation property with lots of room for toys!

    can this structure be a DIY? does this 2nd floor/roof require heavy machinery?

      We are unfamiliar with the term DIY, is this part of the IRC 2006 code? Please clarify and I will be happy to respond.

      As for the heavy equipment, this is something that you will need to discuss with your contractor as the roof installation will depend on the method chosen by the individual who will do the job.

        yes DIY refers to "Do it Yourself" my husband and i are looking for a simple DIY house plan. in choosing one, we want to make sure no heavy machinery is required for the roof, as in setting any elements in place. most roofs can be done without heavy machinery, we would like to know if this plan is one of them.

          As we do no actual construction, I do not have access to the details pertaining to the roof installation of this plan.

          Perhaps a local contractor or truss supplier would be better able to answer your questions concerning the details of building the roof structure.

      As costs vary greatly from region to region, we suggest that you show the information available on our website regarding that plan (illustrations, floor plans, technical details) to a builder in your region to obtain a more accurate estimate.     can you have a walkout basement for storage under the garage?

      As for your project, since this plan is on a floating slab foundation, we cannot design it with a walk-out basement. You will need to contact an engineer's approval if you wish to include the walk-out basement. Please note that we do not offer engineering services.
